Welcome to 2024

Updated: Jan 31

Firstly a belated Happy New Year from Chris Gordon Racing and welcome to our new blog - The Yard.

This is where you will find all the latest news regarding life at Chris Gordon Racing.

We start with a round up of 2023 which was a fantastic year for us with 52 winners and record levels of prize money breaking the previous record by over £200,000.

We have had some great wins, a few new faces on the yard who have joined team Gordon (both horses and humans) and we are really looking forward to the rest of the 2024 season.

YEAR STARTS WITH WINS AT DONCASTER AND PLUMPTON

Annual Invictus won the SBK Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) over 3m at Doncaster on 27 January 2024 . He ran a gutsy front-running race and fought until the very end where it looked like the runner up might get him but he was given a great ride by Freddie Gordon and it was a brilliant win for the whole team. Congratulations to Annual Invictus owner Mr Tom Smith.

14.01.2024 - Alto Alto won the Zoe Davison Memorial Handicap Hurdle over 2m at Plumpton with Rex Dingle on board. He won comfortably by 1 3/4 lengths. Congratulations to his owner Mrs C New.

2023 HIGHLIGHTS

Aucunrisque wins at Newbury

Winning the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury with stable star Aucunrisque with Nick Scolfield on board was a great achievement and a huge highlight of the year for Chris Gordon Racing. It was a brilliant win for owners Goodwin Racing.

Freddie is Our Champ

Freddie Gordon rode Our Champ to win the Foundation Developments Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle (Challenger 2m Hurdle Qualifier) over 2m ½ furlong in brilliant style by 7 ½ lengths. Not only was this Freddie’s first Cheltenham win but he did it on his 18th birthday! It was a great win for Our Champ's owners Pearson, Jenner, Hawkings,

Dunford and Harding.

Novice Lady Champion Rider

Molly Landau has had a brilliant year and won the Novice Lady Champion Rider in the point to point sphere. We are really proud of Molly and what she has achieved. Molly did have a fall at Larkhill and is on box rest but be assured we shall be seeing her back racing soon. Everyone at Chris Gordon Racing is wishing her a speedy recovery.

Champion Amateur 22/23

Freddie Gordon won the Champion Amateur Title for the season 2022/2023, having turned conditional in the September, needless to say we are very proud of him. Following this he got the job at the great Nicky Henderson’s as his conditional jockey whilst continuing to ride for Chris Gordon Racing.

Of course we have had other great wins with our fantastic horses and we look forward to plenty more this year. The whole team at Chris Gordon are integral to the success at the yard and therefore everyone must be thanked for a great 2023.
